About Maran

Maran Winery is a distinguished Armenian wine producer with roots tracing back to 1828–1830, when Sargis and his wife Maran repatriated from Persia to Armenia's Vayots Dzor province. Their son, Harutyun, expanded the family vineyard and named it "Marani" in honor of his mother. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Harutyunyan family revitalized their winemaking traditions, officially establishing Maran Winery in 1992. Today, the winery is led by Avag Harutyunyan and his son Frunz, both oenologists and wine scientists, who continue to uphold the family's legacy while embracing innovation.

Situated in the Armavir region, Maran Winery owns vineyards in Vayots Dzor, including high-altitude plots in Artabuynk village at elevations of 2050–2070 meters. These vineyards are cultivated using organic practices and reflect the winery's commitment to biodiversity and sustainable viticulture. The winery's cellars, located 10 meters underground, combine 20th-century Armenian architecture with European engineering, providing an ideal environment for wine aging.

Maran Winery's portfolio includes a range of wines that showcase both indigenous Armenian grape varieties and international blends. Notable labels include "Noravank," named after a 13th-century monastery near their vineyards; "Bagratuni," honoring the Bagratuni dynasty of Armenian kings; "Malahi," a line that represents the crossing of international and Armenian winemaking traditions; and "Zarm," symbolizing the continuation of the family legacy. The winery has received international recognition, with its Bagratuni red dry wine earning a bronze medal at the 2014 Decanter World Wine Awards.

Maran Winery exports its wines to various countries, including France, Switzerland, Canada, the Czech Republic, Russia, the USA, and Australia, reflecting its global appeal and the growing interest in Armenian wines.
